Fall at Compass Lake in Kawartha Highlands Signature Site

Jeff and I went back to the Kawartha Highlands Signature Site Park in late October and stayed on Compass Lake. We toured a connecting canoe route, heard wolves howling at night and really lucked out on the weather.

  • We decided to go check out a big cliff face we could see from Stoplog Lake, and check out the neat cottage that was situated at the end of Compass with a view overlooking Stoplog.

  • Jeff couldn't pass this point as it required crossing the top of the waterfall. My rubber boots made it possible, although not entirely safe.

  • Looking from the cliff back to the portage spot out of Stoplog. It was raining here and rained for another 20 minutes. After that, it didn't rain again and the sun came out for the 9km canoe home.

  • Here we're on the way back and stopped on Long Lake to take a picture of the Naked Lady rock. We think it might actually be foam, given the fact that it's supported by a 2x4
