  • I had researched the best pizza in Manhattan. The best ones are cooked in coal or wood ovens. Coal is the New York signature, while in Italy they generally use wood. The pizza is a little thicker and a somewhat larger than your typical Neopolitan style (Napoli) and ingredients like pepperoni are available, which generally are not in Italy. Very good tasty pizza; I would give it a B+ or even A-, which is a very good rating. Crust got a little chewy/fatiguing by the end of the whole pizza, the basil was fresh but cooked on the pizza (I like a combo of both fresh and cooked) and I could have done with it being a little more charred.
  • This building beside the Museum of Sex in Manhattan reminded me of the Gaudi architecture in Barcelona.
  • My first time in Time Square
  • Time Square was big but not super busy that night. I sat to rest because I had been lugging my newly purchased ThinkTank bag in it's box around town all night. I walked from Penn Station (34th street) down to John's which is near 1st Street, then all the way back up to Time Square at about 42nd street. Lots of walking.
  • Headin back to NJ at 9:30 - earlier than I was expecting to come back but I was tired of carrying my stuff around.
  • Walking down the hotel hallway.
  • Woo, artsy shampoo and conditioner scene.
  • So this is Thursday heading back into Manhattan with Catherine. This train was really old and the springs were not very comfortable. Catherine was tired as she had not slept well and tried to nap on the train, but without much success.

  • This is the Bone Marrow Arrosto Oreganta at Crispo. It was reputed by Chowhounders as being one of the best Marrows in NYC. I have to say it was fantastic and sets a serious standard. A gigantic portion for $13. They had a spiced ale on tap; not sure who made it - it was unlabeled. Tasty.

  • One of the Rays Pizzas. There are a ton, but they are not affliated with eachother. It's sort of a joke of NYC. They all call themselves the original and famous one but they all seem to be plain electric/gas oven outfits that focus on slices.
  • Our planned ride back at around midnight was canceled I think, so we had to wait for the 1:30am train. Full of drunk armed forces people there for Vetern's day. It kind of sucked because we had to just sit around at Penn the whole time - nothing seemed to be open. Catherine was starving because everywhere we tried to go for food was closed - only fast food chain crap was open. City that never sleeps my ass.
